The Luxembourg association of librarians, archivists and documentalists (ALBAD) was founded in 1991.
The mission is to provide leadership for the development, promotion and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all citizens.
ALBAD is the only officially recognized national Luxembourgish association by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA).
1. What do we stand for?
- We take position on current critical issues with the relationship to libraries and library services throughout the country.
- We want to promote efforts to ensure that all individuals have equal access to libraries and information services.
- We want to provide information to all our members regarding library services and other topics related to librarianship sciences.
2. Priorities and Goals
- Make sure that librarians are recognized as professionals responsible for ensuring the free flow of information and ideas to present and future generations of library users.
- Make sure that libraries are recognized as proactive agencies essential to the cultural and educational life of societypromote recruitment, education, professional development, rights, interests, and obligations of library staff.
- Offer a variety of opportunities for professional development and continuing education.organize workshops and conferences available to all our members as well as to members belonging to the general public.
- Provide job information and career services to prospective students increase collaboration between librarians and archivists.
- Establish strong relations between us and our neighbour countries in order to allow exchanges and collaboration through meetings and cultural events.
- Establish dialogue between our association and governing authorities.
